The woodcarvers who make the blocks for our batiks are the same people who make all the blocks for our block-prints. The ones made for the batik craftsmen last a lot longer than the ones used in Ajrakhpur by the block-printers. The wax to make the batik prints coats the wood and ensures the blocks last many a generation.
