The people who print our batiks belong to the same community as our block-printers; the Khatris. Apparently they switched from block-prints to batik because of the climate. Block-printing requires hot and dry weather which you find in Ajrakhpur but not in Mundra which is where our batiks come from. Mundra lies on the coast and has a significantly more humid climate. This is their print of the crabs found on the beaches in and around their hometown.
