Tumbling Blocks I
A quilter's favourite pattern; it started with a woodworker in Pethapur carving the design into a block of recycled teak. Next the block was sent to Ajrakhpur for printing. A resist was prepared. 10m of cotton fabric was pinned down on a jute-covered workbench. The resist was printed onto the cotton with the help of the carved block. Black dye was prepared. The cotton was covered in black dye with the help of a brush. Lastly a good wash to remove the resist and reveal the tumbling blocks.
