Last fat quarter...
The black and grey for this print are both mineral dyes. The printers use rusty scrap metal to create them. The black is prepared first and can then be turned into grey by adding alum. In order to produce a dye which can be printing on with the help of a carved block, they boil the liquid dye with tamarind seeds. The result is a thick emulsion.
